About the Entertainment Law Review

The Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review (ELR),1 with more than twenty years of publication, is a specialty review devoted to Entertainment, Sports, and Communications law. Over the past twenty years, ELR has established itself as an authoritative source for professional and scholarly articles in the fields of entertainment, sports, and intellectual property law. ELR's subscribers include leaders in many segments of the entertainment world, including judges, educators, 'in-house' attorneys, law firms, agents, managers, and artists.

ELR prides itself upon publishing novel articles written by distinguished academicians, members of the Bar, and entertainment industry commentators which address specific areas of law involved in the entertainment industry. Frequent areas of law featured include constitutional law, sports law, intellectual property rights, communications regulation, antitrust law, bankruptcy law, contract law, corporate law, as well as the emerging fields of computer and Internet law. ELR has also featured symposia on such topics as independent filmmaking, international rights of publicity and the use of law and identity to script cultural production.

This website is designed to be an extension of ELR's efforts to provide information to those interested in entertainment law. To make the website more useful, we have included our entertainment law directory which provides contact numbers and addresses to various entertainment firms, companies, and trade associations. This directory is also published in the first issue of each volume published by ELR. This site also contains brief abstracts of all the articles we have published.

ABOUT US

ELR is student edited and published at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles. Staff members and editors receive academic units for successful completion of their writing, editorial and production requirements.

Participation as a staff member on ELR affords the student an exceptional opportunity to improve legal writing and research skills. Staff members are selected on the basis of academic performance and an annual writing competition. Both day and evening division students of Loyola Law School are eligible for selection.

The Board of Editors is chosen from the staff members at the end of their one year tenure as staff writers. The selection of Editors is based upon superior contributions to the publication, legal research and writing skills, leadership, and demonstrated editorial abilities.

1 In August of 1999, the title of this publication was changed from the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Journal to the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review. This change will be effective with Volume Twenty, published in the 1999-2000 academic year.
